Day Twenty: Dr Seuss-like forest walks near beautiful Te Anau

Seven of our group, including my brother, left us today in order to fly to Auckland and sort out their temporary passports. The rest of us enjoyed a couple of forest and lake walks.

We had stayed the night before (as well as this night) in scenic Te Anau. This sign was near our hotel:



This was the mossiest (is that a word?) forest I had ever seen...





Lots of ferns too. Very primeval!







Some of the moss-covered branches and foliage appeared to take the shapes of creatures.

Yes, it rained a bit...





And here came another New Zealand Robin:
